What would be the consequences if any of doing this?I am assuming there would be more dust build up but that can be cleaned regularly. Is there anything other cons to be thought of?
I know there aren’t any consequences in the short run but what about in the long run?

Besides dust, if your cabinet is well designed and not blocked by cables being in front of the fan, etc and especially if you have a second fan that is designed to blow into your computer, the case will provide a better source of taking in cool air and blowing out hot air, and so cool better.
If you leave the case off you have a chance of dropping something on it, spilling something into it…at the very least getting it dusty and besides that it looks kind of ugly, unless you like looking at all the stuff in there.
But most of all, with the case off, you are merely blowing air around with no sense of direction. Probably will not cool as well in most cases. Put a cabinet fan in if you havn’t already and put your cover back on.

Intake= no because your blowing soo much more dust and crap inside your pc
Exhaust= hell yea, you’ll be sucking alot of the air but not that efficiently. i’d be bust to just buy blue led fans. their the shizz.
cons tho is the lack of efficiency and it may not get all the heat off the main parts. you can prop it in the case for better results. long run consequences is you ephing around and touching something ungrounded *spark* and your computers gone. no biggie or common possibility. i do this all the time, but so i can fix my computer frequently when overclocking!

I’m at a loss on why you would want to use this. The computer has two types of fans in its case. You have the cpu fan which is mandatory or the computer won’t run (in most cases that is) and then there are case fans which are usually used in the back of the case to pull out the hot air and also fans up front (on some cases) to pull air in.
To use the fan you have noted here you would have to leave the side of the case off, allowing additional dust to enter the system.
Could you use this fan, Yes. It is wise to do so, No.
May I suggest you purchase a proper case fan from Newegg.
