Dyson-rivals Gtech claim the time has come for consumers to realise that well-designed British products do not have to cost the earth. Their Gtech cordless floor cleaner is a startling £170 cheaper than the Dyson ‘Ball’ vacuum and can do the daily household clean for a mere 1p a week.
Nick Grey, Gtech’s Chairman said, “I know people who’ve spent £1,000 on vacuum cleaners in the last five years. They tend to be heavy and don’t clean up large pieces of dirt and debris. If anything, modern vacuums are becoming less reliable at a time when people want to clean their house in five minutes flat then get on with their lives.”
The Gtech cleaner promises a refreshingly different way to clean, is completely cordless and weighs a mere 1.6kg – around the same as three bags of sugar.
A national TV campaign kicks off on September 14th showing exactly how and why the Gtech is so much better than competitor cleaners. Looks like Gtech could be set to clean up the market!

• Gtech have been pushing the boundaries of innovation in floorcare and garden products since 2000. • All Gtech garden and floorcare products are patented, designed and developed in the UK by British engineers. • 16 million Gtech cordless sweepers have been sold worldwide to date.
Gtech was founded in 2001 by our Chairman, Nick Grey who started out as a junior design engineer at Vax before being promoted to Design Manager.
Over the past 9 years, Nick and his team of experts have been pushing the boundaries of innovation in floorcare and garden products making Gtech the successful company it is today.
Being an engineer through and through, it all started in Nick’s garage when he wanted to develop a lightweight and agile floor cleaner that his mum could use to pick up pet hair from her two dogs. He designed a cordless electronic floor sweeper that would be easier for her to use for her everyday cleaning than a vacuum cleaner. It turns out that it was so good at cleaning that people started to take interest and started buying them in droves. His original sweeper model (the SW01) went on to win the ‘best new home care product’ category at the UK Housewares awards in 2004 and he hasn’t looked back since.
We’re a much larger team now than from our humble beginnings and we’re tucked away on a farm in deepest, rural Worcestershire.
The Gtech HQ is where it all happens and it’s home to our experts in the Design, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance and Customer Support teams. Learn more about them ‘here’.
